As part of the drive, officials removed 76 modified silencers of such vehicles at various locations across the commissionerate limits. The special drive was carried out as part of efforts to control noise pollution and maintain public order, with teams deployed at major junctions and busy road stretches to identify violators. Police said the use of modified silencers is a violation of traffic regulations and contributes significantly to noise pollution. Officials stated that such unlawful modifications create inconvenience to the public and may adversely affect the health and well-being of senior citizens, patients and children. Motorists were advised to use only standard and authorised silencers prescribed under the Motor Vehicles Act. Police warned that strict legal action would continue to be taken against violators under relevant legal provisions. Published - May 14, 2026 12:01 pm IST
